Which PC or tablet should I use? Recommended devices for Motiview

What to look for when buying a PC, Android tablet or iPad for Motiview, recommended devices, adapters and where to get them

Motiview works on Windows PCs and tablets, Android tablets and iPads. Here is what to look for when choosing a device, and some devices that work well. The minimum requirements are in Technical requirements.

What to look for

  • Touch screen. Motiview is designed for touch screens. It makes the app easier to use, and the screen is easier to clean.
  • Connection to the TV. The videos are best shown on a large screen. A PC should have an HDMI output. A tablet should have USB-C with video output, so it can be connected to the TV with an adapter.
  • Storage, if you will use Motiview without internet. Downloaded videos take up space. If you will download many videos, we recommend at least 256 GB. If you mostly use Motiview with internet, less is enough.

Windows PC or tablet

A laptop that folds into a tablet (2-in-1), with a touch screen and HDMI output, works well. Examples:

  • HP Pavilion x360 2-in-1
  • Acer Spin 3

Android tablet

Choose a tablet with Android 7 or newer and USB-C with video output. Example:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE

iPad

Motiview works on iPads with iPadOS 15.6 or newer. An iPad with USB-C is easiest to connect to a TV. Examples of iPads that work:

  • iPad (5th, 6th and 7th generation)
  • iPad Air 2 and iPad Air (3rd generation)
  • iPad mini 4 and iPad mini (5th generation)
  • All iPad Pro models

Adapter for the TV

A tablet needs a USB-C to HDMI adapter. We recommend adapters that also charge the tablet, for example from Belkin. If you use Apple's adapter, turn off HDR in the iPad's settings.

Where to get a device

We recommend getting the device through your IT department, so it fits your network and routines.

If that isn't possible, Motiview can set up a Windows PC for you. It will then be outside your IT network, and must be connected to a guest network or an open network. Contact us via our contact page about this.
